if you'll make a sh*tmap, you definitely won't get success.if you'll make a good map, you'll get success 10%. so not fully luck-based.

Give me one good reason to spend a lot of effort on a track when MX is just luck based anyway?

For your own pleasure.
If you don't enjoy making tracks in the first place then what's the point in it anyway?

TM isn't a solo game. A big part of the fun consists in sharing creations that will be appreciated.

Wake up dude. You were in the right place at the wrong time. It's really that simple.
It's just about luck whether someone picks your track while it's on the frontpage or not.

Fun ? Build something in a style you really like yourself. What remains from the awards when the site goes down some time ?

Servers. A lot of people will build tracks because the know someone with a server, and share that way. In these cases, getting live feedback is what would make things worth it for those who crave it.

My two cents.

If you view your success by the number of awards you get, you are just setting yourselves up for failure. Who cares if you don't get 20+ awards. I'd rather have a couple of really awesome awards. Quality over quantity, any day.

Your tracks aren't getting recognised? Most people start out the same. Luck? I don't believe it's luck. You make your own luck.

Persistence. Keep on building. Slowly refine your track style. Don't sell out just for awards. Do what's fun for you.

Market yourself (I don't mean spamming). Go on servers and ask for your track to be played. Listen to criticism and learn from it, otherwise what's the point?

Lower expectations. Don't expect awards, but as you start building tracks that people like you will slowly start attracting followers. Your name will be recognised, and you will get downloads and the occasional award.

One thing I do know, complaining about a lack of "success" won't make you successful.

I agree 100% with this!
I would rather have 10 awards/comments telling me "in detail" what is good/bad about the map rather than 50 awards which read like "nice :award:"

and, I love Australia! 8-|

More srsly, you're totally right. Especially about that one fact:

If you show to the other you care a lot about awards, then the other players (at least I do) are kinda revulsed by you, and by your tracks. Asking for a feedback isn't bad ofc, but asking too much, or literally asking for awards is really reputation-killer. I experienced it myself a year ago. ;) Don't make maps for award, don't expect awards when releaseing it, just expect the (few, in your case) players to have fun.

And, don't complain too much about your case. 90% of MX players are like you, Just act so that you're in the 10 other %. :d It's a matter of willingness, not of luck.
