You pretend to come on the comunity, and after your 5th map, get 40 awards?

Man i've been for more than a year in the same situation... Don't talk about me if you even don't know me.
I gave you the imput, the right advice... If you don't wanna learn from it, then stfu and stay like that.

Let me ask you, how many maps did you tried here at MX since you're registered? And, how many comments, feedbacks, or awards you gave? Are you sure that people knows you as a good user, that test, play, comment (or award) their tracks? Mh.. i think you miss something here...

Think a bit about that...

There's no "award given" count here on MX, but i'd say i tried about 30 maps, and gave about 15 awards. And when i say awards, i mean constructive awards, including both good and bad points, not hypporcrite awards like : "Nice track ! (try mine now ! )

And as far as i know, i'm not nasty with other people. I'm not saying "shut the fuck up" to people i don't agree with like you do. You do miss something too.

edit: Just saw your second post. I'm not claiming for tons of awards like a kid. Just sick to see my track having 22 poor downloads while it's as funny as 90% of the tracks i've tried until now. Sick to spend hours polishing my tracks to make them as entertaining as possible for not having more feedbacks than if i uploaded a made-in-five-minutes shit.

Guys, let me ask you a question.
Are you here mainly to become a successful author on tmx in the meaning of awards or are you playing the game because it's fun?
Of course everybody likes to get feedback and awards because it shows other people appreciating your input to the community but is the number of awards you get so important that you fall into a crisis when you don't get the recognition from people you mostly don't even know?

It's a game and you should focus on other things. Are you having fun when you build tracks or are you just doing it so people recognize you? That would be pretty sad.

You shouldn't argue and insult each others for such things. You can't force people to love your tracks. And it's pointless to be jealous on other people's success. They are not building tracks to make you feel bad, and there's no reason to feel bad for getting more awards than other people.

TrackMania is all about comunnity. Recognition for your work represents a part of the fun, aside with building tracks. At least to me. Creating a track is half the fun. Seeing it online, played by other players who say appreciating it is the other half.

And I've nothing against people who get a lot of attention.

There is no point in making a track and spending days polishing it to a shine if it gets downloaded 6 times and disappears.

Well if you see no chance to get the recognition you desire then you might eventually just wanna stop polishing a track for so many days or just stop making tracks.
For who do you polish it over and over? There are hundreds or thousands of track builders on mx (not yet thousands but soon). In fact track builders are the biggest group of registered users on mx. It's simply fatuous to believe everybody could get the recognition they deserve. It's impossible. A day is just too short to build tracks and at the same time drive all tracks on tmx and give feedback or awards.
I might sound harsh but I'm just realist. :p

I'd hate to argue with a moderator, but I call that more of a defeatist statement. Either that or I'm insane because as discouraged as I may get I will still build tracks and upload them, and I won't give up.

As for my motive, I feel that seeing my tracks on servers adds a lot to the fun of the game. I always liked the TMRS island servers because I could upload my tracks directly.

You have to start by helping yourself

1) Your tracks appear mostly passworded. Not that useful when most people are testing tracks by loading them into the editor. Until the full version of Canyon comes out and solo play is enabled, using passwords results in your track being downloaded but not played

2) Get screenshots, and upload them with the track. As you have already discovered, a track does not spend that long in the newest tracks window, but even there a nice screen shot will make it stand out. If you cant make good screenies, there is a forum for this where you can get help in that area.

3) Award and comment on other peoples tracks. You have so far not given out much feedback or recognition but you you complain about not getting any yourself.

4) Don't make tracks names ALL IN CAPS, it looks angry and I probably would avoid these maps.

skunky you"re partially right, but don't forget that mmorpg are all about recognition in the comunity... trackmania is the same. Builder or driver you are, the main goal is to reach fame... be famous as a good player, be famous as a good builder, be famous as a good screen-maker, be famous as a good mod maker, as a good skin 2D maker or be famous as a top 100 lafder of the game. Everybody (at least a huge part of the game comunity) desire to get attention and not to fall in the invisibility....
the fact that you play for fun and not for fame is a background argument, because once you discover this game and you have fun with it, you start with your secondary objectiv: fame.

MrA said all, you miss something in your maps... no screenshot? Then open a screencompetition in the dedicated section! This is a way to advertise you track in 2 ways:
- screenmakers must open the replay to take an angle, so they will also see if it's a good map.
- a good screen catch the eye of the users, even if good or not, if the screen has shining colours, by scrolling with the mouse, it will be seen much more than a no screen track.

About the rest i already told my opinion before:
-be sure your track deserve attention. Is it cool to play?
-make friends that hwlps you to improve your tracks and will support you in a lot of ways.
-put your nick in the mind of the comunity. Be active, be constructive, be friendly, and act to the other members as you want they to act with you.
-Be patient.. what you're looking for it won't come in 2 months.

You cant compare you ("new to tmx/mx) with people as ganjarider. GR has been a trackbuilder since 2006 or maybe before. He built maps that are still on servers, and are still awarded..For such a target you`re too late now. You should have been in the right place at the right time, so 2006 won't come back...

It is, was and it'll allways be a theme wich splits 2 or more guys with different meanings.
I give you an example....
While i was active on TMUX, i became known and within i had many awards....on the other side i gave others feedback and awards too.
Now a new game arrived and my tracks dont get even close to the times i had in the past...AND?

I dont care...i saw enough servers where my tracks are running on, wich means, my tracks are good enough for the hoster to play them with others and hunt the times.
I said it 6 Yrs. ago, 3yrs. ago and i'll say it again: "awards dont mean anything, the important thing is that your tracks will be played online" That counts more than hundrets of awards IMO
You're a Tracker? Then feel honoured, because your tracks are on servers instead of complaining about the amount of awards others get while you dont.

GR was since my beginning on TM "famous" i played sometimes with him on servers...he's human, he builds tracks and he's good with doin' it...ok. But you cant compare one person with another.
I saw hundrets of tracker comming and going...GR allways stayed, if the others would've done that too...i'm sure no one of them who is atm. in the BOTW would be in there.

What you've done doesnt count on MX
Sn8ndm8n "Sandal" and me devised the Big Brother Project long time ago, wich helped a lot of tracker to make their tracks better and gained them the one or other award, but more important, their tracks were played online.
btw. to whine a bit: "I never saw a thanks for sandal or even me for this, but it was copyied on all other exchanges without saying who were the founders" 8-|
but that isnt important for me aswell...important is, that some could learn something and grew to a better tracker with a different meaning to the one the had.

Awards dont mean anything, getting your tracks on servers and have nice talks within the community etc. counts more than anything other, if you're a tracker...but thats only my personal meaning
