Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
... says: You might think: what has this to do with TrackMania? Well, what you were reading is the Intro text for the track "[RPG] STAR WARS IV by Zack11 and it gives you a good idea of what this track is all about. Basically you take up the role of the viewer and relive the events of Star Wars Episode IV, starting from the capturing of Princess Leia's Starship and ending with the destruction of the first Death Star (duh, spoilers^^) What sounds like a story track is actually a story track embedded in an RPG track. The RPG elements are not too difficult to master even for non-RPG drivers. Sometimes there is a bit of searching involved in finding the next CP...but I found this to only enhance the realism of the story line. The first drive probably takes the average player a little over an hour to finish. The story is told with the use of a lot of cut-scenes that make heavy use of MT. If you are not immediately captivated by the entrance of Darth Vader in the first cut-scene then I really don't know what will. The track design is also made really well to match the Star Wars atmosphere. Here are a few screens (that I will not comment on so as to not spoil the story too much): All in all this mix of RPG and story track works really well. It produces an atmosphere and realism hardly paralleled by any other track. The track is so much fun to drive and explore. There are eye-candies waiting at every corner. That's why I whole-heartedly recommend this track to anyone, not just Star Wars lovers, RPG fans or Story Track enthusiasts. As an RPG fan I have to say though that I'm really glad that this rare beauty found its way into Canyon after an eternity of no new Canyon RPGs being released. "[RPG] STAR WARS IV by Zack11 |

Nice review
I had the pleasure to preview this map before release as zack11 needed my help to compute HQ shadows, my Intel core I5 2500k Cpu overclocked to 4.2Ghz with 16gigs of mem and Nvidia Geforce GTX 580 used about 14minutes to calculate shadows in this massive map, it barely managed to be below the magic 1mb map.size ending up at 977KB size when shadows where calculated (just wanted to add that as a fun fact) When i calc shadows for the type of maps i myself makes, it usually just takes me from 5-7 minutes Zack11 did an amazing job with this map, i wonder how many hours he spent on it Imo Star Wars IV map by Zack11 really deserves more awards, hope he will have some coming his way after this blog review |
