Hi guys! This is one of the first (if not the first) "realistic" tracks ever uploaded for TrackMania 2: Canyon. I've been creating these "realistic" tracks for a while now, but I've been kind of bashful about sharing them because I was unsure how the community would respond. Today, I decided I'd go for broke and share it with you guys. There is a challenge time to beat, but the main attraction of the track isn't the challenge itself; rather, it's the ability to open it up in the Track Editor and basically free-roam around the place, taking in the various sights and simply enjoying the awesome atmosphere. Hope you enjoy!
About the track
This is North Canyon Motorsports Park, a realistic track situated in the northern reaches of Nadeo Canyon. It is known by fans for its many creature comforts and sheer beauty, and by racers for the incredible difficulty of some of the corners. A labyrinthine network of roads frames (and at points even passes over) the track itself, facilitating quick and easy access to the track's many features.
The track includes:
- The main track itself, complete with pits on the front straight
- Dozens of stands for the fans
- A go-kart track for the kids
- Fan parking
- Two strip malls for food and merchandise, designed to simulate the feel of being on the track
- A fans' entrance, complete with ticket booths
- A teams' entrance (again with ticket stands), which leads to...
- ...a teams' parking area
Ways to play this track
Unlike most TrackMania courses, there are two ways to play this track:
-
Time Attack: The classic TrackMania experience. Go for the best time either online or solo, enjoying many of the track's best views as you breeze by them on your way to victory!
-
Free Roam: My personal favorite way to play this track. Open it up in the editor, place the car somewhere outside the main track, and explore the area at your leisure. Take a trip down to the shops, enjoy the view from the hills near the far edge of the track's area (when facing from the fans' entrance), or just ride around. It's up to you!
Notes
- Due to the mod I've used, there are invisible trees pretty much everywhere besides on roads and the racetrack. I highly suggest sticking to the roads while you explore the area.
- It's a good idea to compute the shadows before playing with this track in the editor. It makes the place look a THOUSAND times better.
- In case you're wondering, there is a small hole near the main track's starting line which will allow you to get on it.
- To get onto the go-kart track, you have to drive up the stairs to the right of the pit building (when facing it from the outside), and then follow the walkway you're on until you come across a gap in the fence which you can jump over. You'll still have to quit to the editor to get out of the track, however.
