»The infamous "Dusty Boardwalk" on Calessa.
One of the newer race tracks on Calessa, but with quite a story to tell.
Built as an main-course alternative to the critically acclaimed "Grand Championship" track "Dusty Boardwalk" made it's debut on the NEW HORIZONS TOUR 2278 and won their audience award in the same season.
As a result "Dusty Boardwalk" was announced one of the twelve venues for the next season of the APEX PRO SERIES, replacing the highspeed race track "Wyvern" from the ice planet Diazon.
"Dusty Boardwalk" managed to stay in the PRO SERIES as a venue during 2280 and 2281, but was moved to the APEX Holo Series before the start of the 2282 season at the behest of the drivers.
It is the first of Calessas race tracks to feature an offroad section, although Calessa (being essentially a single desert) would be the ideal location for rally ond offroad tracks.
In order to cut the construction costs to a minimum "Dusty Boardwalk" re-uses about 70% of "Grand Championship"'s track layout in reversed direction. It has however one of the highest annual maintenance costs of all venues in the APEX Holo Series, because of the flood-prone lower sections around the start.
Although "Dusty Boardwalk" may look quite simple and is often criticized as "being boring" and "unpleasant to drive" by the drivers, it rarely fails to deliver tight races and vast audience figures.
And after all that's what counts in todays business and that's what keeps this race track an evergreen in the APEX Holo Series even today. Hated by many, loved by the masses.«
