You have 15 seconds to escape the bomb. Can you get out in time?
My entry for the
July 2017 MTC. All you have to do is get to the end within 15 seconds. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? The entire stage gets nuked? Well, I guess that wouldn't be good, but you're fast, right? I'm sure you'll get out in time.
So here's the deal. I'd done a little bit of private experimenting with a countdown timer. The 15 second time limit made this the perfect time to apply it to a stage. However, just having a countdown isn't fun. You need a reason to beat the timer, some sort of incentive to go fast. That's where the bomb comes in. I'm rather proud of this, actually; it's probably my most complicated mediatracker creation yet.
By happenstance, I also purchased an old favorite of mine on Steam recently. It was a title by the name of Sonic Adventure 2 (and Battle DLC). There happens to be a bit in the plot where Sonic needs to escape the island before it goes boom. Of course, this is preceded by a famously cheesy cutscene where the two titular characters call each other fakes. Now then, what have we been comparing the Lagoon car to? Correct, the Bay car. Since everything fit much too well, I had to remake this scene as the course's intro. I probably spent more time getting that made than the course itself...
Regardless of the cheesy and unnecessary additions I made, I still made sure the course was fun to drive. It turns out the Lagoon car handles on Valley asphalt, stone, and dirt just like it does Lagoon asphalt, so I could make the course fast and tight. This is actually the second iteration; my first version was fine, but it wasn't as interesting as this iteration is.
Features
- Lagoon car on Valley action!
- Ultra quality shadows!
- Cheesy intro, tense In-Game, rather normal Outro, and relatively unimpressive Podium sequences!
- 7941 coppers of pre-bombed scenery at 19:00!
- Modified medal times!
- The intro is almost three times longer than the actual course!
