What about an option similar to "Hidden" and "Visible" that would hide the track and its info page, but still allow it to be downloaded through the API? People could start threads and paste the track's download link into their post.

Just a thought, I'm not familiar at all with your source code, it just seems to me that something like this should be much easier to implement than the recreating the whole beta area TM-X style.
