CBC - Rush hour
This is a duo map by

It's our entry for the
CBC - Creative Building Contest.
Aim of the track:
"Rush hour" is a
puzzle game, where you have to move cars in order to open a straight line between them. In our case we used
trains instead of cars. As in the puzzle game your goal is to create a line, on which you can accelerate. You have to start accelerating from the very beginning in order to build up enough speed for the jump to the finish line.
Other than in the puzzle, we got
always 2 rails beside each other, which makes the puzzle a bit different. Another difference is, that you always have to drive to the train, that you want to move. So your car needs a free way towards that train. As a help, you can use the
4 little gardens in the middle of the track to reach another rail.
How does it work?
In your first try, make sure to drive Press Forward at the start. If you reach the house in under 3,4 seconds, you'll activate a very helpful MediaTracker Clip which solves all your questions. You will learn quickly:
- how to move the wagons
- how much place does a wagon (or 2 of them) take up
With these information you'll be able to start. You can choose to drive left side of the house in case you want to drive it with the
normal camera / your own free cam (we highly advise to use cam7) or you drive to the right side of the house to activate the
helicopter overwiew camera for the puzzle. By
respawning you can get the normal camera back, and you can rejoin the puzzle in case you got stuck or went out of the area.
Objects are stopping the trains early before the end of the rail, so that you are able to drive behind the last wagon to get it away from the wall.
Some last tips:
Be careful! When trains collide at a crossroad, they might bug. This will produce a mess. There are possibilities to solve this puzzle clean and safe, the question is which strategy is the fastest. But sometimes you need to take it slow. If you move a wagon too far, there might be no coming back in rare cases and you need to restart. Keep that in mind.
Enjoy,
