Hello fellow maniacs
It's arzgaa here and I had an idea of starting a blog of mine featuring the tracks I've tried and driven lately We'll see if i wind up making these daily or weekly, but I'll try to make these regular But first a bit of my principle of messing around with tracks in Tmx: - I drive both BotW's (Best of teh week) as well as the latest released tracks just for the diversity in tracks and the fairness towards the more unknown trackers still rising from the depths of the site -I will upload my replay of the track no matter how epic time Patriot »CT« has driven there or how horribly ridiculous the track is. Yeah and i mean every track i drive. Even if it's one of those "put-25-boosts-in-a-row-and-hit-the-wall"-tracks I'll try to make a clean run and leave it at that. By uploading the replay you tell the builder more concretely someone has driven the track. I myself don't have tracks here yet, but i remember in Trackmania Nations i saw my first tracks get a couple of downloads and that's quite about it. It left feeling "empty". I didn't have any idea what did they think about it, better yet i had no idea if they had actually even driven the track. -I will give the track an award or (if not worth awarding) a comment. In my opinion the comment section is very underused feature here in tmx. If the track is not good enough for your award, you should at least let the author know why. Let him/her know where could the track be better and what parts were good. That way the authors know how to improve their tracks and hopefully reach the BotW someday If the track you drove was great the most epic masterpiece you have ever seen don't award the track and say : "Nice track " Award the track and praise how you liked this & that and all those things, it makes the author feel really good about his work That's all about my principles let's check out the tracks I've driven today: Amok_Be by koma I wanted to start with the track I think needs a lot more attention and is quite underrated imo (yes it was released today but anyways ) The track is very creatively built and I think there are some clever uses of blocks not so often seen. It is quite techy but definitely a challenging and fun to drive. The track also includes a tiny amount of blockmixing. I honestly want you to check this one out, it deserves more attention -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Bad Track/Map Link] Phantom by zenyatta: This one was a fun one. Very fast and speedy platformish track with one of the greatest yet simple uses of blockmixing. I find the mod (White City) used here very fitting too. Only thing i didn't like here was the ending which wound up a bit too bumpy for the speed which made it tough to land decently for the curves. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- zero order by alex BF : Ok ok I drove this one yesterday A track full of coolness all the way from the screenshot to the track and the decorations. Very techy and challenging one (but who wouldn't like challenges ) #1 of the week completely reasonably ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mini Wouter #18 by strobewafel or Wouter A smallish techy drifty track. Quite challenging but still fun. Not perfect but works quite well imo. edit:this track has apparently been removed ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tornado by Zooty Not the best but a good track full of loops and more loops. Mostly quite the basic stuff but the first loop here is quite clever.I also found out it has a huge cut in it (It's fixed now ). O.o Of course i had take the advantage there edit: apparently is this one removed as well ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nascar5 by CanyonDrive Nothing special. Quite basic multilap, has its fun moments but not for too long. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- idio-crazy beta by Nicolazer Some epic blockmixing, but thats all. Honestly I don't want you to drive this ( I know it sounds harsh ) the track isn't very driver friendly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah! That's all this time folks I hope you took your time to read this attempt of mine to make a Tm Blog and hopefully drive some of those tracks I mentioned worth checking Feedback is very appreciated, let me know what you think about this blog GG |

Yeah, I mean you choos the name what you want. So people instantly know: "Hey that's this guys blog!"
And the name could look like this: Berrylium & Tornados|Track review or: Track review|Berrylium & Tornados I think the 2nd option would be better because you see the main title first. |

Yeah But what do you mean? Because I think "Amok_Be Track Review" would seem quite boring compared to an interesting and epic name like "Beryllium & Tornados"? | |

Nice blog mate ;D
Gonna read it but what about the title shouldn't it be like {name}|Track review or so? Because i think it looks more serious and you look at it first because it got a special title. ;D ~Blub |

I agree with you about many of your topics In particular, there are many maps out there that receive awards with a simple ( )for example . Is this really the way to express how you enjoyed the map ? Surely a small comment could have been added - no ? after all , a good or reasonable map really does take a long time to produce and test for varing levels of drivers to hopefully allow most to try and enjoy And then there are maps for example that receive numerous awards and yet only have a few offline times uploaded - hhhmmmmm Surely, if you want to award a track you should at least have the decency to upload a time before claiming the track to be totally amazing or otherwise , as i'm sure many would agree. And then there are the other types of maps which just seem to get awards simply because of the author - regardless of whether the track is good , fair , bad or even complete shit
In my everyday connection to MX I try to run as many maps as time allows me, whether known or unknown authors and if I feel a map deserves an award ( meaning I enjoyed and/or had fun, etc,etc ) I will duly give an award and short comment as to why and agree with you that the comments section is very under used for this purpose but as some comments here could become very degrading and so , in most cases better to hold the insults Please remember, it usually takes a lot more time to run a track to acheive a reasonable time than it does to write an award, so come on all , try to be more reasonable as to make the game less one-sided and to give some inspiration to others who may ultimately carry this game further into the future Cheers to all from A concerned old aged TM ADDICT |
